SI Group plans growth in China

NISKAYUNA -- SI Group, the Niskayuna company that makes resins and other chemical compounds, said Wednesday it plans a new $30 million plant in China.

The family-owned company, which operates a factory in Rotterdam in addition to 19 others across the globe, also plans a new testing lab for phenolic resins.

The company also announced a $5 million expansion of its factory in Shanghai, which follows a previous expansion of that facility in 2008. The new lab would be built in the existing factory.
