FedEx Freight back in Empire Zone

BY MICHAEL LAMENDOLA Gazette Reporter
Reach Gazette reporter Michael Lamendola at 395-3114 or lamend@dailygazette.com.

The $5.2 million FedEx Freight project in the Rotterdam Industrial Park is back in the state’s Empire Zone program.
The Empire Zone Designation Board on Friday voted to reinstate the project, reversing a decision made by Empire State Development Corp. in June 2009 to decertify it.
The project’s reinstatement means FedEx Freight will continue to pay full property taxes to Schenectady County, Rotterdam and the local school district, totaling $142,000, said Ray Gillen, commissioner of economic development and planning for Schenectady County. The state reimburses the company for the taxes it pays. ..................>>>>....................>>>>................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00901&AppName=1

So basically folks.....FedEx like the other companies that fall under the Empire Zone....do not pay their taxes....THE TAXPAYERS DO. The state is reimbursing the companies with YOUR TAX DOLLARS!!!

So perhaps I'm not reading this correctly, and please correct me if I'm wrong here....but companies like FedEx moves into a municipality, with the cheerleading liberals saying that this will add to the tax base and help reduce school and property taxes...right???

How the hell does that happen when THE TAXPAYERS are paying the companies taxes, funneled through the state????

Someone please explain the math for me here....k?

Working Together Works --- to create jobs and economic activity.

Too bad that all the Regressives could produce was the worst economic downturn since the Great
Depression --- with 10% unemployment,  tens of thousands of foreclosures, hundreds of bank failures,
and a 45%  drop in the value of the Stock Market and most folks' 401k retirement accounts.

Now that you've summed up the Obama administration, what's your point?

I agree with what you are saying -- to a point.  However, the economic downturn started under the
previous president's watch ... so .. he gets the blame.

Hmm. Again, reality and facts seem to evade you Ron

Let's start with your claim that the "previous administration" is responsible for the foreclosures:

Quoted Text
In the first half of 2009, nationwide foreclosure filings topped the 1.9 million mark for the first time ever surpassing the 1.5 million for the first half of 2008.  Also, Q2 of 2009 was the worst quarter in terms of foreclosure filings ever.  Whatever the case may be with a handful of good earnings reports including some Wall Street firms that are making billions on a disaster they helped to orchestrate, the overall housing market is still deteriorating.

Hmm. Checking the Calendar, that's the Obama administration.

Next - bank closures/failures:

http://www.fdic.gov/bank/individual/failed/banklist.html

Gee, 80+% of that list happened in 2009 and 2010 ... Hmm. Calendar still says "Obama"

Next - 10% unemployment:

http://www.miseryindex.us/urbyyear.asp  and http://www.bls.gov/cps/ (Bureau of Labor Statistics) disagree with you again - but forgive them, they deal in FACTS - REALITY, not your perverted version.

Now, you're claiming the stock market "crash" was started by the "previous administration" (end of 200.  That answer is a little less clear, but you'll have to look at the subprime mortgage mess caused by Barney Frank and his boyfriend. Remember, the congress and all major appointments were DEMOCRAT at that time.

Quoted Text

On September 16, failures of large financial institutions in the United States, due primarily to exposure of securities of packaged subprime loans and credit default swaps  issued to insure these loans and their issuers, rapidly devolved into a global crisis resulting in a number of bank failures in Europe and sharp reductions in the value of equities (stock) and commodities worldwide. The failure of banks in Iceland resulted in a devaluation of the Icelandic Krona and threatened the government with bankruptcy. Iceland was able to secure an emergency loan from the IMF in November.  In the United States, 15 banks failed in 2008, while several others were rescued through government intervention or acquisitions by other banks. On October 11, 2008, the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) warned that the world financial system was teetering on the "brink of systemic meltdown"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stock_market_crash

As you'll notice, by the FACTS, was that this was a worldwide failure, perpetrated under the Democrat congress. Mr Bush didn't wake up one morning and say "Let's crash the stock market".  Notice, the IMF only announced an "issue" in mid-October 2008, 2 months before the end of the Bush occupancy of 1600 Pennsylvania.  But if you wanna blame Bush for that, go right ahead - but remember, he didn't write the laws that congress voted on for the previous 19 months, Democrats did.

Now, I'm sure this will take time to sink into that doughboy mind of yours - and you'll come up with some incoherent babble about "regressives" or some (rap like that. But if you think about it, with an OPEN mind - you'll see Reality (though you probably won't recognize it immediately)

The stock market had its first drop of over 4000 points in July 2007.  The housing collapse was already
beginning in 2007 ---- I know because my nephew bought a foreclosed house out west .. in the Spring
of 2007  .. in one of the communities where the credit collapse began.

So -- the economic mess STARTED when the previous president was only slight more than 3/4ths through
his administration.  FACTS  ARE FACTS.

And what item was it that the previous (and I'll give you Republican) president passed through a Democrat Majority in both the House and Senate?
