As the Parks and Recreation Commission finalizes its Vision 2020 Parks and Recreation Plan for
the Town of Rotterdam and moves into actually planning for a new general-use town park,  what
are some features or ideas that you would want in your new town park?

I'd suggest a "CLOSED" sign.

How in the world would you enforce "Rotterdam residents only" - another job position to monitor everyone using the park?

KD: Nobody knows yet, it's a fantasy idea at this point.

It is a proposed park -- the town currently owns almost 80 acres in Rotterdam Jct - south side of
Route 5S .. this site is sometimes referred to as "the Bonded Concrete Site"  and the town leases
about 3 acres from the New York State Canal Corporation for a park that is known as "Woestina
Park"  on the north side of Route 5s in the junction.
The proposal is to link the 80 acres on the south side with the Mabee Farm complex and then the
3 acre (plus up to 65 additional acres of Canal Corporation land along the Mohawk)  .. to create
"Bicentenniel Park".
The name is a working name -- we hope to have a naming contest sometime in the future -- but
the name indicates our desire to have most  -- if not all -- of the proposed park developed by
2020 .. which is the town's Bicentenniel.

I'm a town resident. I don't need need your permission to to be here. I found the site searching about an area we were moving to. How 'bout you stop stalking me? Do you have anything intelligent to add to the conversation that is
relevant to this topic?

It is more than a fantasy idea -- we are well along in our discussions with the Canal Authority (in
regards to expanding into State Canal Corp property) and DeClemente (in regards to devloping
the passive park on the "Bonded Concrete site"

I think that there are ways - i.e. a park permit - to limit the use by non-town residents.
