Well not sure about other kids--but my kid worked in a bakery this summer when it was 120 degrees inside. But he still goes to school on my dime. I am blessed to be able to do that for my children. Of course, I was BETTER able to do it when Clinton was in and Bush has put almost in the dumper. How's that war economy working for all of you. And you no minds want to blame Obama for the sins of the dimwitted Bush. All you ever want to know about the word stupid you can find out by watching Beck--NOBODY IS A BIGGER FOOL. No offense to Sarah--she is almost as big a dope. |

No minds... umm, LOL I don't blame Obama for the past, I blame him for his actions while President. Digging us into a mountain of debt now, and for the foreseeable future with his irresponsible spending. His attempt at soft landing the economy has resulted in debris being scattered over a wider area and taking longer to recover. Sometimes the best thing is to do NOTHING or very little, and the let the natural cycle operate. He chose the political route, avoided the hard landing, and now has to pay the price....and so do the rest of us. |

You see, there is the difference between you and me. You EXPECT Obama to get us out of this, I don't. In fact, I didn't want him to do much of ANYTHING and let the recovery process take its own way. If he had let the economy crash land instead of bringing out the air pillow, things might have been worse initially, but it would have gotten going in right direction faster. Government gets way too much credit for good times and way too much blame for bad times. They call them economic cycles for a reason, but I guess we all need someone to blame. Government can be a overseer, from afar, but for the most part, it needs to get the hell out of the way. |

By forcing banks to make extremely risky loans to people to buy homes who couldn't pay them back that lead to banks and financial institutions being stuck with billions of dollars of debt and you don't think that our own government had a very heavy hand in causing the financial meltdown. Remember Frank and Dodd who were the ones who were supposed to be watching Frannie and Freddie to make sure they didn't get into financial trouble and now both Frannie and Freddie are still taking billions every year to keep from going bankrupt. When government gets involved in running anything the outcome is never good. |

So I guess that's Obama's fault that it's been happening for the last 10 years or so. |

I believe the 'push' to practically give homes to those who really had no inclination to take charge of them and their cost was introduced by Clinton.... if more homes were 'owned' more taxes collected the higher the rating by Moodys and such.......
dont tell me these folks dont eat at the same trough....regardless of party.....we think they are different.....but the goal is the same....and war will ALWAYS exist.....
if P then Q......pay attention.......dont let the small talk keep your mind in a box...... |

Quoted Text
Stop taking snake-oil salesman Beck so seriously
Re Aug. 31 Carl Strock column, “Let’s hear it for God, guns and, uh, honor”: Your eminent columnist seems to have joined those liberal columnists who routinely classify Glenn Beck as radical, lunatic, Crazy Right or (in Mr. Strock’s words) “looney tunes.” They do him too much credit. In fact, Mr. Beck is part of that legendary American characters, the snake-oil salesman. Also known as con-man fourfl ushers or (in Great Britain) “mountebank,” Mr. Beck, a one-time rodeo clown, realized last year that making money was too difficult by actually reading, analyzing and describing the news, like his colleagues. Instead, the pleasantly characterless huckster says anything he wants (true or false), and at the right intervals throws in, like lollipops to children, the word “God,” “Founding Fathers,” “America” or “buy gold.” In a way he resembles Robert Preston in “The Music Man” or Burt Lancaster in “Elmer Gantry” and “The Rainmaker,” though the con predates this, going back further than Mark Twain’s Duke in “Huckleberry Finn.” But those were fiction. Mr. Beck is all too real, and his message should be all too transparent. The tragedy is millions of trusting souls believe Mr. Beck is the real thing instead of a sharp city-slicker come to town to take their money. Mr. Strock is usually too astute for the likes of Mr. Beck. One only wishes that he, and other Americans wake up, enjoy the show, and return to solving our real problems with real solutions.
