Granted, we may have our political differences .. lets try to set aside those .. refrain from any attacks on particular persons .. and
use this thread to post  SPECIFIC .. CONSTRUCTIVE ideas that maybe we can all agree on ... that would improve our town.

When candidates address an audience in order to gather votes hook them all up to a lie detector and show the results on a big screen so we can tell whether or not they're lying to us before we vote for any of them.

Get rid of this blog.  It has done more harm than good. The personal attacks and political vendettas given birth on this board is disturbing. I hope Joann will abolish this site. It has led to many false rumors, innuendos and bitter personal attacks. MaryM, Club, Bumble, Cicero, Spidey Mobile, Greenlantern, GrahmBonnet are hate mongers who have led to destuction of self and the Rotterdam GOP.  I can't take it anymore. My grandchildren wouldn't be amused

I mean it Voice. This blog is a big part of the demise of all parties. Gadfly ruined the conservatives from this perch. The NNTP was hurt by the blog and it had a lot to do with FDG winning. SHUT IT DOWN JOANN. Its time to abort Kelly's brainchild. .

Oh relax peeps. You were probably the biggest contributor to this so called 'bad blog'. What I read at this place, is the same stuff I hear 'out there'.

Back to my original suggestion.......NUMBER 1......you need to get rid of the political differences. And I haven't seen that happen in decades. It is rotterdam after all! the town breeds political contempt. IMHO

Democrats advocating stifling of free speech, supporting abortion and crying when they don't get their own way.  So typical.

Is it November yet?

real debates at the town library not hosted by the LWM by for all candidates and if they dont show the debate still goes on

clean up altamont ave from heldaberg to 5 corners

remove the stump on a wire

no more spot zoning

enforce ALL town code or remove the old code

fix the sewer plant

don't give town land to the little league- nor build an access rd between the sewer plant and the town storage bldg on campbell - a lovely entrance btw andy!

CATV/broadband to all town residents - in franchise agreement -free ride has been given for over 20 years

adjust the police chief and asst police chiefs salary to a more affordable level

red light cameras before someone is injured or killed, or circles everywhere

no trucks over 24,000 lbs on altamont and curry, dunnsville - we have a thruway and 158 for that

stand up to donald zee - a sole source on development is a very bad idea

dont let renters rent without a CO

promote active green energy production - punish non working green energy forcing its removal

terminate the current town clerk

a bus stop at the ind park or across the street

DON'T LET SCHENECTADY HAPPEN HERE!

work with the assessor to keep rural areas rural

work with rural land owners to keep rural areas rural

work with the assessor to support local business

reassess every property every 6 years(scheduled) to avoid an equalzation rate and give property owners an incentive to keep up looks(value)

This Democrat loves free speech  ... is proudly and unequivocally Pro-Life across the board (opposed to abortion, death penalty, and euthanasia)
... and the last time I cried was at a sappy movie.

In some states, municipal elections are non-partisan -- Detroit, MI used to (not sure if it still does it that way) ..  but it could work like thisinRotterdam (although we would need to get the State Legislature to change municipal law and election law to allow it)...

first -   make Town Supervisor post a 4 year position like the rest of the town board  or make the rest of the town board 2 year positions like the Supervisor.

For the primary, any resident can run for office who has collected a certain number of signatures of registered voters  --  the top 2 vote getters for Supervisor and the top 8 vote getters for town board -- would then head to the General Election --   where we would elect 1 Supervisor and 4 town council members.

Too many to respond to  all of them  --  I think we should bid out the Assessor function to a private company .. this would ensure professionally done assessments .. and would minimize political interference.

We didn't have very good results when we tried that with GAR.

Actually, GAR did its job .. and rather professionally .. the fact is that the administration - Tommasone and Company  - did NOT do their required part of reviewing the work that GAR did.   I know that as of last year -- boxes of GAR's work was sitting in a store room in Town Hall where it had sat for a couple of year -- waiting for Tommasone and Company to do its job.

GAR has had a great track record in other municipalities -- the only one where the reval went wrong - was in Rotterdam.   and that is because Tommasone and Company opposed the reval and wanted it to fail .. and did NOT do their part of the work to ensure that it was successfully completed.

I ran for town board 5 years ago .. supporting the reval because it was needed .. if we had won 5 years ago, the town government would have done its part to ensure the successful completion.   Instead, Tommasone and Company basically  flushed $700,000 down the drain .. just to spite us.
