My aunt lives in Bigsbee Village.  She told me her neighbor heard of an existing tax rebate and went to see the assessor to find out if they were entitled to a refund.  She claims her neighbor was refunded hundreds of dollars.  It had something to do with the reassessment and condo owners.  Her neighbor said the rebate is only good for Mohonasen School District because of the non-homestead status.  I am passing this information on to get the word to other condo owners in Mohonasen so they can check with the Town Assessor to find out if they also might be entitled to a similar refund.  Sounds as though it is well worth looking into!

Wouldn't the Town issue the refunds automatically?  How would a resident know that they are owed a refund?   Do we all need to stand in line at the Assessor's window or the Receiver of Taxes window to ask this question?

stand in line...

why would the Town Admin tell anyone
the town clerk is on vacation
the maint staff is selling dog licenses
employees are put up for promotion and denied
and zoning changes are handed out like candy at a parade

I hear it is something like up to 3 years worth for some

the bad part is the hole it will leave in a years finances

If these owners are due a refund, there should have been some type of notification mailed to them.  WTH is going on?

Has anyone on the Forum suggested to their Mohonasen friends/family condo owners that they check with the Assessor regarding this refund?   It would be interesting to know if they will really be receiving this rebate and if so, why the Town didn't automatically issue the checks to the owners.

they should also check with their accountant, if they have one.
