One would reasonably think that as deputy she acts on behalf of the TC in manners where the TC is not able to, as in when they are on sick leave.  Probably a stamp, so unless you have proof the reasonable assumption is that this is normal.

I only caught a brief glimpse of the check in question, but it was enough for me to know that it was not a stamp... it was EE's name
that appeared on the check, but it didn't even resemble EE's signature.

Why doesn't the deputy clerk have the same privilege of 'signature'? Can't they just add MG;s name to the account? There should be some fail safe implemented IF the town clerk isn't available. It really doesn't make sense.

I ran into inspectors from the NYS Dept. of Health at Town Hall today. A man and a woman were there to correct some death certificates on which
EE apparently entered the same numbers for different individuals on different certificates.

In a conversation with the man, I learned that apparently the Town never filed the paperwork necessary to authorize the recently appointed
Deputy Clerk, Michelle Golden, to sign any documents, checks...anything. They cannot just appoint her...they were supposed to file an official
document naming her as a Deputy Registrar, impressed with the Town Seal and signed by the Supervisor. I believe they were from the Vital
Statistics Division.

So, gross incompetance, forgeries, unfiled documents .. what's the ethics board's reply to all this crap?

I see the all those with last names containing with the letter "G"are on their "G"ame

"G"odlewski - deputy supervisor
"G"odlewski - town attorney
"G"olden - deputy town clerk

"G" what is "G"oing on??????

Isn't that the town clerk's job? and are rotterdam residents suppose to assume EE is gone for good?

Right now, no one other than EE can sign anything...and it doesn't look like she will be back anytime soon...she will stay in hiding
while she collects two salaries...resign after it is too late to hold a special election...and the Board will install a Democrat to replace
her.

Gadfly, looks like you were in the right place at the right time!   The current admin must really love you!  Thanks for exposing this information and keeping us in the loop!  Hopefully the Daily Gazette or the TU will cover this story!

I don't really care if it's a rep or dem in the clerk's office. As long as they are HONEST and COMPETENT! The clerk's position is an overpaid position and not a position that creates or votes in local legislation. So basically....I could care less.
