By CHRISTEN GOWAN, Staff writer Last updated: 8:25 a.m., Wednesday, March 31, 2010 ROTTERDAM -- Town police are searching for a female they said robbed McDonald's on Curry Road with a handgun early this morning.
Police said a woman walked up to the drive-through window, pointed a silver handgun at the clerk and demanded money. The woman made off with an undetermined amount of cash and was seen walking eastbound in the parking lot near Vincent Street.
The woman is described as 5'6" tall, thin build, dressed in all black with a black face mask. Anyone with information is asked to call Rotterdam police at 355-7331.
COLONIE -- Moments after a Dunkin' Donuts customer received her decaf iced coffee from the drive-through window, a woman on foot stuck a pistol through the window and demanded cash.
Colonie police are trying to find the customer, hoping she may have seen the robber walk up to the window of the store at 1636 Central Ave. in the village of Colonie. The robbery occurred at 12:44 a.m. today.
Colonie Police Sgt. John Archambault said the drive-through window automatically closes after each customer is served, and the employee normally locks it immediately.
But the robber thrust the gun into the window before it could shut, he said.
The suspect is a white woman, described as 5-foot-4 with a thin build. She was wearing a navy blue hooded sweat shirt, black gloves and a black face mask. The woman displayed a gray handgun and demanded the contents of the cash register. She fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Right before the robbery, a young woman in her 20s drove up to the drive-through and ordered a decaf iced coffee with cream and Splenda. Police are trying to find that customer in the hope she might have seen the robber approaching the window.
"We're thinking she had to be standing outside the window," Archambault said.
Colonie police said they are working with Rotterdam police because a similar robbery occurred there.
