Did anyone see the article yesterday where the real estate expert said that their are two economies in the City of Schenectady, one that is funded by Metroplex (County Sales Tax) and one that pays exorbanent taxes? How do we feel about this? Is this worth all of the expense? This is supposed to build tax base has it? Is it worth it, or should we just take the sales tax money to reduce our county taxes?

I think rationally we need a REAL foundation......not just 'feel good' stuff......there is a saying (for a reason) of "starving artist".....and there is also a saying "no more straw for the bricks and double
the number of bricks".......

soooo.....what do we do first?.....although downtown looks nice in a VERY VERY VERY small area.....the rest of the county(hamburg street for one) gets the shaft.....and stupid things like baseball
parks get 'bought'(voted for) first......

what do we teach our children? That in Schenectaday the only jobs available are either 1.standing in line at DSS or 2.patronage/entitlement/vote getting jobs????

as for building a 'tax base'....I think the unions have usurped that position.......a tax base HAS to start with education and innovation and the 'not so nice' things such as sewers/sidewalks etc....but, in NYS
not just Schenectady the vortex keeps sucking it all away to entitlements/vote buying/contract dealings/guaranteed pensions etc etc.,,,,,,,,,

two economies you say?----you betcha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the LUCKY government workers  and THE REST OF US DUMB LUCKERS.....

leadership comes from the top----fortitude is built from the bottom up..........who wants a 'lucky' foundation?

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Metrograft is a complete and total failure. It hasn't produced one job, it hasn't improved sales taxes, and it hasn't improved property values.

The metroplex should have been desolved a long time ago. And now we have the plex in rotterdam touting that they can market all  of rotterdam's vacant buildings....perhaps better than rotterdam can. To that I say bullsh!t!

How many vacant buildings are there in the city of schenectady?
How many buildings since the plex's inception have been sought after by private businesses?
And lastly....how many buildings and parking lots does the plex presently own.....and how many has the plex sold and for how much money and to WHO?
