The prob is, the Ciceros of the world and the other patronage hacks at RACC who are 'uber conservatives,' have decided to backstab him repeatedly while padding their own pockets and feathering their own nests, all on taxpayer cash.

Ah,,,the prob really is with the JS's of the world and the other local Republican phony's who preach the Reagan mantra "Thou shall not speak ill of any fellow Republicans".  Then gives up his legislature seat to REPLACE as sitting Republican.   What's JS called, an "uber Reaganist".  Not only will Joe speak ill, but he will actively conspire with fellow Republicans to unseat a fellow Republican.  Is JS on board with the rumored primary challenge of sitting Republican George Amedore?

I have no vested interest in ANY political party.  I am not a party hack or party lemming.  JS played an instrumental role in the collapse of the Republican Party in Rotterdam.  I'm not so sure why surrogate Grahambonnet would attempt to blame anonymous posters on a little internet forum for the failures of JS and his party.

I thought Republicans were about personal responsibility.  All I hear is blame, blame, blame, blame.  It's the Gazettes fault, it's The Rotterdam Forum's fault, it's Mertz's fault, it's RACC's fault.  WHA,WHA,WHA,WHA

JS was a good representative and appears to be a nice guy. But it does appear that playing politics is not his forte. I have to agree with cicero, that JS helped bring down the rep party by trying to unseat a fellow republican. Especially when there was another seat up for election. Who made THAT decision?

Here is what I don't understand.....why isn't JS at any of the rotterdam town board meetings? Why isn't he standing up for the people who are forced to stand up for themselves? Did his desire for service end on Nov. 4th? I put that out there for all of the reps. WHERE ARE THEY?

Back on topic....this whole Proctors thing is beyond ridiculous! It has yet to sustain itself, never could and never will,  and yet they continue to throw our money at it. It appears that Phillip 'cancer stick' Morris is running the show. I'm so glad that he is thankful to us, the taxpayers, for making his 'artsey' dreams come true!

VOTE THEM OUT!!

Why would he want anything to do with liars and criminals, masquerading as good guys? The world of politics is filled with whores (no insult to actual whores meant) who are nothing but frauds. You are born alone and die alone in that business. No sane person would want to serve with such fickle backers and a luke warm conservative movement who only get inspired for 10 minutes every 15 years. I gotta' hand it to the socialists, they are "on" and "on point" 24/7 and walk the walk. It is no wonder Judy D, Holly V, Angelo S and Niki DL joined them and took the international oath to the Commitern. They at least have people behind them, who actually come out and support them no matter what RACC or NYSGOP creep gives orders to the contrary!

The socialists are always on because they take the road easiest traveled tried and true by all in the animal kingdom(especially when we choose not to use our rational brains)

This is another taxpayer rip off. Let Mercury Morris run one theatre profitably-now he is a catering maven? The fact that it happened before or always happens in NYS is a weak excuse especially when the State is facing a $9 BILLION deficit.

Even worse is the MSM jumping up and down-"It Is Good!"-when everyone thinks it's an unbelievable taxpayer ripoff that will cost our children. Where is the Metrograft dividend? Sales taxes tanking-property values downtown in the toilet. It's time Proctor's repaid the County taxpayers and not only with weak words.

Instead of repaying the broke County taxpayers they expand for a catering hall? Gee, I wonder who will run the catering operation?

Hmm ...

What (Democrat) politically connected restaurant owner/caterer do we have in Schenectady County?  I wonder who ...

I'll give you two guess-lol-

Meanwhile Mayor Stratton {former aide to Paterson} is jumping up and down over this news. He apparently doesn't care when a building assessed at $580,000 sells for $150,000! This will cause a domino effect with dozens of Downtown merchants seeking huge assessment reduction. And Death Ray "purposely" didn't show this to anyone? ROTLMAO!! Only in Schenectady County-Florence of NYS.

Proctors still the sparkplug

It seems fitting that Proctors is taking over the beautiful Key Bank building next door, because Proctors has been the key to downtown Schenectady’s revival. And the takeover, which will create new space for banquets, conferences and entertainment, will only further help downtown and its economy by bringing in more people.
One has to look pretty hard, and be pretty shortsighted, to find much wrong with this deal. Yes, the building would come off the tax rolls because Proctors is a nonprofit, but Key Bank has only been paying $11,000 a year. It also appears that Proctors will soon be shifting around activities within its properties to free up space, which will be sold and put back on the tax rolls. The city should see a net gain. And Proctors CEO Philip Morris says that if the assessor determines Proctors is responsible for some taxes from the new activities at the Key Bank building, it will certainly pay them.
In fact, the city has already realized plenty of additional property tax revenue in recent years with the movie theater, hotel, restaurants and other businesses coming in, making use of unused old buildings and in some cases creating new ones. It’s unlikely that many of these businesses would be here if not for Proctors.
New businesses have also meant extra sales tax revenue for the city, county and Metroplex. The Key Bank move would bring still more, not only through new customers for the businesses but at the Key Bank building itself. That’s because, although Proctors is exempt from sales tax as a nonprofit, it will ask for proposals from private caterers for the banquets and conferences, who will pay sales tax on both their sales and supplies. ..............>>>>...............>>>>...............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....ppName=1

How pathetic. A building assessed for $590,000 is given to a non-profit for $150,000-because NO ONE ELSE wanted it. Permanently off the tax rolls-other business will grieve their assessments-making the homeowners pay more.

The Mayor, Death Ray and newspaper cheer this like some huge accomplishment. Key Bank/catering hall. Belly up to the gelato bar!

They know that there is not a great push from independent businesses to move into the down town section of schenectady. However, they have yet to admit it. The metroplex, the local liberal media, suzie and cancer stick will NEVER admit to defeat!

Again many ask....how much tax payer money has been dumped into 'the dump' of schenectady....and how much have the taxpayers gotten back on their investments?

BT you sound like one of the "near sighted" experts the Gazetto rallied against today. The editors here are like Mr. Magoo. They refuse to admit what a complete and total failure Metrograft has been. With all the mythical job creation how come unemployment is at an fifty year high in this County?

This is an absolute disgrace to Metrograft, Proctor's and the sheeple/taxpayers. How dare they take yet another large building off the tax rolls? And they say the $11,000 property taxes {on a $590,000 assessed building?} will be offset by future sales tax generated. They refuse to see that this outrage will have a domino effect with many other Downtown business owners who will rush to court to file justifiable tax grievances.

Did the Daily Gazette receive Metroplex funding for the construction of their building on Maxon Road?

The most vocal proponents and defenders of the Metroplex are those who have received funding for their
business ventures.

Ah,,duhhhh... Yeah, of course they are the proponents of it.  And neither party wants to address this on going failure because both parties benefit from it, and in some cases have been co-opted by those very people who receive the Metroplex benefits.  We'll see how long McGarry survives on the planning commission with his anti-metroplex position.  If he were smart, he'd ask for grant for a photography studio and a 10 year PILOT program.  He must feel dirty after leaving those PC meetings, breathing the same air as those people, like the millionaire banquet hall owners who feel entitled to taxpayer dollars so they can make themselves richer.

That's why people like Brad Littlefield, and I predict soon to be Mr. McGarry will be rejected by both parties in Schenectady County.  They don't have personal self serving interests.

Brad doesn't even live in Schenectady County anymore ... why is his name being brought into this? He's not running for any office
