Gillebrand has trouble for sure but why would Patacki really go for her seat unless it is just to help the party. Here's one seat the DEMS will not retain-Eric Massa Congressman from Buffalo. One less vote for Obamacare! Add him to Spitzer, Paterson, Hevesi, Monserrate and all the other DEM "leaders". No more straw for bricks-only for brick bats!
KINDERHOOK -- Chris Gibson, a just-retired U.S. Army colonel, announced Saturday he will seek the Republican nomination to challenge Rep. Scott Murphy.
"I've fought hard for this country, and now I'm ready to fight hard for all of the citizens of the 20th District," Gibson announced Saturday afternoon during a homecoming party at the Winding Brook Country Club.
He said he will focus on reining in spending, cutting taxes and making sure the United States is organized and effective in its fight against Al Qaida.
Gibson retired last week from a 24-year career in the U.S. Army, including a recent deployment to Haiti. He was raised in Columbia County and attended Ichabod Crane High School.

If Scott Murphy flip flops, and votes FOR Obamacare, he will surely lose, and he might lose, anyway for his other votes like Cap & Trade.

None of the four declared contenders are well known throughout the 10-county district and the endorsements that have emerged so far show there is no front-runner. None of the four said they plan to run a primary against the candidate ultimately chosen to represent the GOP.
Patrick Ziegler, who won the Warren County endorsement in a close vote over county native Dan Stec, said he thinks highly of his competitors -- Stec, retired Army Col. Chris Gibson of Kinderhook and Saratoga Springs lawyer David Harper.
"All three are fiscal conservatives and true Constitutionalists. Unless I hear something that would be a deal breaker, if one of them changed their opinion on health care for example, I will not primary," Ziegler said Tuesday.
Ziegler, 37, an insurance salesman from Burnt Hills, also said he will not run as a third party candidate either, such a move, he said, would only serve to help Murphy.
All four candidates are opposed to the health care reform bill pending in Congress.
