Gerard is coming to the Cons Party? Hmm, all his "people" are Reps.... Interesting. Who is going to run for this position? Hopefully we'll have many choices to choose from.

I didn't say he was. I just said.....stranger things have happened in rotterdam.

I would love to see GP as a Conservative.  Isnt' FDG Conservative.  I hope FDG kicks his fanny.  Just heard my neighbor say once he heard GP speak so ill of Frank, he changed his mind and voted for the Dems.  No wonder normal people laugh at Rotterdam.  GP has done much to hurt the party just as some folks on this forum have done. IMHO.

FDG is a newly enrolled Conservative. His party changed from Blank to Conservative in November.

Funny how that worked out.

Has he announced his retirement date yet?

I'll reserve comment on that. I predict that he serves out his term and maybe even another one after that. I think he'll be better for this town than some people believe. But time will tell. It's hard to know for sure until you see the person in action...

So long as his term doesn't go beyond 6pm, he should be fine.

Parisi sworn in as new board member

Sean Ahern 12/31/09

Gerard Parisi was appointed to the Rotterdam town board, replacing Micheal Della Villa, during a special meeting of the Rotterdam Town Board on Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. at the Rotterdam town hall.

Parisi, the former town attorney for the Town of Rotterdam, will fill the vacant town board seat left open by town board member Micheal Della Villa, who resigned from his post on Dec. 16, according to town documents. Republican Town Supervisor Steve Tommasone thanked Della Villa for his time on the board, with the board taking his resignation unanimously.

"I would just like to publicly thank Mr. Della Villa for his time on the board. He is one of the best people I know personally. He wears his heart on his sleeve and does a phenomenal job for the community serving on the Shalmont School Board as well. And I hope for the best for he and his family in the New Year," said Tommasone. "Its with some reservation that we accept his resignation."

The board voted 3 to 1 to then appoint Parisi to the town board, with Mertz opposing the vote.

Parisi was then sworn in by Republican County Legislature and Chair of the Rotterdam IDA Angelo Santabarbara. Parisi will join the incoming town board who will be sworn in on Jan. 1 at 1 p.m. at the Rotterdam Town Hall.

What follows is a comment made by Mr Parisi, Republican obstructionist in Rotterdam.
Parisi believes his knowledge of the town and experience as town attorney makes him an asset to the board.
“I think the four people have limited experience and they would benefit from me being there,” he said.
It is that word EXPERIENCE I object to.  Experience buys the electorate in government nada.  The EXPERIENCED are good at sustaining their political careers.  Parisi was instrumental in the negative campaign against Frank DelGallo in Rotterdam.  Parisi has another bully pulpit, the town board, he will use his position to continue the 2009 attacks on Frank DelGallo.
Parisi & the people who nominated him view Rotterdam & Schenectady County as their play pen to do with as they wish.
A brief list of the 'experienced', Joe Bruno, Sheldon Silver, Gov Patison, Jack McEneny (double dipper), Parisi, you get the drift.  We get the government we deserve but at least those other than Parisi were elected.  Parisi was appointed, he is answererable to the party bosses.

NNTP must be very very careful of political polarizing via 'viewed perceptions' of the gumbas ie:conservative party etc......

this party must always remain as UNAFILIATED with any organization ie: unions/lawyers/other boards school or otherwise.........

Rotterdam is where it is because the incestuousness of it's form of 'political gumbas' as usual........

anyone care for a clean drink of water????

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

I still say that GPi will leave the rep party. Perhaps GP has issues with Tom B.

Rotterdam GOP was wrong to appoint Parisi

Re Dec. 29 article, “GOP names for board”: I have been a Rotterdam resi dent all my life; however, but living in the town the past few years has given me a new understanding of what politics is all about!
The outgoing Republican administration, namely Supervisor Steve Tommasone and Councilman Joseph Signore have managed to pull off another boondoggle. Before leaving the offices taxpayers relieved them of, they saw fi t to appoint someone uniquely unqualifi ed to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Michael Della Villa.
I say uniquely unqualified because Gerard Parisi, their appointee, served as town attorney during their administration! The taxpayers of Rotterdam removed them for being inept, and their choices over the past several years have done nothing but hurt residents. It makes perfect sense that Mr. Parisi, who was probably responsible for many turning their backs on the outgoing administration [because of] his remarks during the election, is as inept as they were.
One can be sure he won’t be a thorn in the side of the new town board, which is made up of caring and understanding people dedicated to working for a better future. Hopefully, taxpayers will remember, by the presence of Mr. Parisi, how the past administration cared little for the welfare of townspeople.
As town attorney, Mr. Parisi’s record was that of a follower. Perhaps he should have followed Mr. Tommasone when he was tossed from office.

Parisi was part of the problem to begin with. What the reps were thinking, if they were at all, is beyond me!

Bumble you are sooooooo right! It was pretty clear they were not thinking.  Saw a Rotterdam Rep out to dinner this evening and he told me he was so disgusted with Parisi as the choice and the crap Steve pulled that he will be changing is registration to blank.  "Fed-up he said."
