NEW YORK (AP) - A teenager trying to get into his apartment after school is confronted by police. A man leaving his workplace chooses a different route back home to avoid officers who roam a particular street.

These and hundreds of thousands of other Americans in big cities have been stopped on the street by police using a law-enforcement practice called stop-and-frisk that alarms civil libertarians but is credited by authorities with helping reduce crime.

Police in major U.S. cities stop and question more than a million people each year - a sharply higher number than just a few years ago. Most are black and Hispanic men. Many are frisked, and nearly all are innocent of any crime, according to figures gathered by The Associated Press.

Professor Gates was profiled racially trying to get into his OWN house.  How stupid could the cops have felt in this scenario.  Bellicose, violent, and racist????  You must be kidding.  He is a scholar, an author and human rights activist who has graced our community with his presence.  I was privileged to hear him at Siena College.  Half of Union College headed to Siena to hear him.  You impressions are off the mark--just one more time.

It all stemmed from a concerned neighbor calling the cobs when someone was trying to bash in her neighbors door..

Now he may have felt he had a reason to react the way he did being a minority and growing up in america, that i can't disagree with, i don't know what he's gone through or pretended to, but lets stick to the facts.

people who cant see the issues(right or left/agree or disagree) take the 'feelings route' and claim racism/economic
priviledged/educated/non-educated etc etc.......the governments job is not to make a '....more than equal...'
playground.....that would be the job of our souls and person to person.......
