SCHENECTADY -- A grand jury has indicted a city police detective for allegedly obtaining prescription drugs.

     
Investigator Sherri Barnes, who was also charged with official misconduct, surrendered to her own police department today.

A Schenectady County grand jury on Tuesday charged her with fourth-degree criminal diversion of a prescription medication and official misconduct, both misdemeanors.

She is now on 30-day unpaid suspension, and faces discipline inside the department.
