Mertzie may not get 'all' the votes. But historically he is a big vote getter. I agree with Michael....in that Mertzie has always been on the side of the taxpayer. That is clearly his only 'sin'!

And my hat is also off to John Mertz. Imagine, without the "political machine" behind him, he actually collected enough signatures to get on to 2 ballots, one of the major parties as well as needing to go over and above with the No New Tax Party. This is not to take away from the accomplishments of all the others (which I guess they're all in the primaries for parties), but to be able to primary for a major party and an independent line means that he hasn't been resting on his laurels.
SCHENECTADY COUNTY Independent party forming Organizers of No New Tax Party collect signatures to be on ballot BY MICHAEL LAMENDOLA Gazette Reporter
Organizers of the No New Tax Party said they will file petitions today with the Schenectady County Board of Elections, hoping to establish an independent political party line for Election Day. Organizers said they collected more than 900 signatures to establish the first countywide independent party in years. The threshold is approximately 774 valid signatures, or 5 percent of voters from the last gubernatorial race. The No New Tax Party consists of four members: Rotterdam Board Member John Mertz, and political newcomers Brian McGarry, Michael O’Connor and Brad Littlefield. They call themselves “staunch fiscal conservatives.” Mertz and O’Connor are running for Rotterdam Town Board, McGarry for Rotterdam supervisor and Littlefield for Schenectady County Legislature in District 4, which represents Rotterdam, Princetown and Duanesburg. None has a major or minor party endorsement at the moment. The candidates established the independent party to offer voters a choice, said McGarry. “The sheer number of signatures signifies the public’s discontent with high taxes and reckless spending by our town government,” he said. The Rotterdam candidates oppose the establishment of a new townwide taxing jurisdiction to support the operations of Rotterdam Emergency Ambulance Services, a nonprofit facing financial problems. Littlefield has a different platform. “For too long, our residents have been burdened by oppressive property taxes. It’s time for a change. That’s what the No New Tax Party offers to residents,” he said. Organizers said they were pleased by the support they received in collecting signatures for the No New Tax Party. Anticipating challenges to their petitions, organizers said they collected more than the required number of names and that they obtained signatures from residents not registered with a major party. “We targeted unaffiliated, independent voters because they would not have been approached to sign a designating petition for a party or an opportunity to ballot petition,” Littlefield said. No New Tax Party organizers said the Upstate Conservative Coalition, the Primary Challenge organization and the New York Tea Party Patriots provided contributions and volunteers to their effort. In addition to their independent party line, the four candidates are seeking major and minor party lines through primary challenges on Sept. 15. .................>>>>............>>>>............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00800&AppName=1
Brad and Brian were on WROW this morning. Anyone get to hear them? They were both great on articulating their platform.

Brian McGarry and Brad Littlefield were great on the radio this morning. They told a story about a mortgage broker contacting a Georgia assessor. The Rotterdam mortgage broker thought that the annual tax of $470 had to be incorrect. The Georgia assessor said YES! There had been a mistake-the taxes were only $419 A YEAR. Maybe this will wake some of you sheeple up. Had enough-YET?
John Mertz will finish first in the REP Primary and first in November. Ditto for John O'Connor. Not only that but they have created a NO NEW TAX PARTY which will be the 3rd largest vote getter in Nov. The party hacks and dead enders are in a tizzy-unlike them the NO NEW TAX PARTY has submitted a full slate!
Taxes in many Southern states are 5-10% of what they are here. Everytime I hear people crying and moaning that if we don't INCREASE spending and taxing 10% or whatever there will be a huge calamity, I shudder to think how bad we have it.
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
Hey, these 4 guys were on channel 13 tonight at 5:30. Did anyone see them? I guess they were at the board of elections turning in their petitions.

I'm watching this story on WNYT's site. It said that they filed over 1,700 signatures...almost 1,000 more than they were told they needed, more than double the 700+. Congrats gentlemen.
I don't know how long channel 13 will keep this up on their site. But here it is:

Bravo! Finally some fiscal CONS with grit and determination. Keep telling it like it is.
They are running circles around the status quo dead enders. Heard them on WGY-810AM for an hour this morning. Is anyone else campaigning? While they are mass communicating and picking up Statewide support the other "candidates" are in hiding afraid to campaign.
John Mertz and Michael O'Connor will crush the field in the REPS primary for Town Board. Ditto for Brian McGarry and Brad Littlefield in the CONS primary for Supervisor and County Legislature.
Mertz and OConnor are still Republicans at heart. My guess is IF they win one or both seats in the REP primary, would spell curtains for the Republicans. Dems in the backdoor!
Nobody watches Channel 13 News. Albany viewers and really not much play in Rotterdam Homes. I thought Mertz came off bitter. The Okie Man was flat and Brad and Brian did their homework. Good sound bites from them two. JMHO
