Darfur refugee camp demonstration planned for Sch'dy park

SCHENECTADY — A portion of Central Park will be turned into a refugee camp Sunday to hammer home the suffering in Darfur.
For two hours, visitors will learn how to build camp shanties out of twigs, cloth, cardboard and rope — which should be much easier than building one out of garbage, as many Darfur refugees must do.
Visitors will also cook on solar cookers, a type of camp stove that allows women to feed their families without being raped. Soldiers and thugs often attack women who leave their refugee camps to search for wood.
Sudanese refugees now living in the area will also teach songs, dances, history and geography to cement the feeling of connectedness that organizers hope the event will foster.............>>>>........>>>>........http://www.dailygazette.com/news/2009/may/25/0525_darfur/

Although I have followed the happenings in Darfur, and have been sickened by the entire issue....I find this improv refugee camp a waste of time. Gut wrenching, but a waste of time. Where is the outrage from the international community? And even more importantly, where is the outrage from HOLLY-WEIRD?
