Poll to learn of viewers sentiment after President Obama's First Speech to a Joint Session of Congress on Feb 24, 2009

Didn't watch it ... I've heard enough empty promises and "change" toward socialism ... not interested in anything he has to say at the moment.

Change we can believe in?  Ya, that's the only thing we'll have left, pocket change.

And yes, to you liberals, I will respect your president as you respected mine.

It appears that the investors aren't impressed with the speech.

The "experts" say that the market is forward looking.  If that is the case, a downward trend in the indices would suggest that investors don't see the economy improving in the near future.  It would appear as a vote of no confidence in the administrations approach to repair the ailing economy.

I watched and came away hopeful, though Governor Jindal’s response disheartened me a bit.  (Could it have been his response that accounted for the market reaction?   I’m just messin’ with you, Brad.)

I am cautiously optimistic that despite some of the aspects of the stimulus, the overall effect will eventually be positive and prove to have been the generally correct action.  I’m basically looking at economic dynamics in coming to that determination.  For sure, there will be consequences to deal with (ie: inflation potential, etc.) but those concerns are a little further down the road.  We must first deal with the immediacy of many aspects of the current crisis.

I’ve said it before elsewhere, but despite what many dismiss as plain rhetoric from President Obama, reaching goals begins with the motivation and belief to do so.  His ability to deliver words powerfully is integral to the overall effort.  Say what you will, but the masses, like it or not, need inspiration to believe and participate for any eventual solution to thrive.

I'm no liberal, by the way, but I thought Obama was OUR President?  Looking at him in terms of yours or mine is counterproductive.  We all better hope he comes through...and to do that, we're all going to have to find our part in that success.

He might be our President but I hate his policies and all the half truths he's told us b4 and after his election.

He will become OUR President when he, Barack Hussein Obama,  allows officials to verify his place of birth and legal right to assume the position. At that point, I'll acknowledge him as OUR/MY President - not before.

I don't disrespect the office, I am protesting on how this person was elevated to the position and the qualifications he presented.

Think about it - what would happen if this multi-trillion dollar debt goes into effect, thousands of soldiers are brought home from an, as of yet, unfinished war - or worse, put into another battleground in Afghanistan - and THEN we find out he wasn't legally, or constitutionally ELIGIBLE to be Commander in Chief/POTUS.  What if, that's all I'm asking.  Prove it and I'll respect him in that office, not before.
