Who would you like to see run for the position?  Who would be worthy of your vote?  How well do you know the three prospective candidates?

That's my question? Who votes for these folks???? I have never had a thanksgiving dinner with any of them.....the ONLY folks
that vote for them are 'the brothers' and the politicians and family.......

the sheeple just hope the pastures are safe.......JMHO

However, I will say that party jumping may be a way for 'the brotherhood' to show it's displeasure at the political posturing....OR.....

the only other option is that it doesn't matter and no one really cares about the masses......

Those who control the guns control the masses and those who control the $$ control the masses.....

THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PARTIES......

BUT----there are personal character differences and these folks are not raised and elected out of a vaccum......and they can be bought and sold....
just like a common slave.....I would ask to what/whom they are a bond servant too......

I wonder if Rit DiCaprio or John Hoetker, retired from the Schenectady Police Department, would have interest in the position?

I agree that campaigning is over rated...at best!  But how else do the areas that don't have a clue who these people are, hear their platform? Word of mouth? That could be dangerous.

I don't know.... I guess if you really are the best candidate- ideally all of the parties should support you!

In a multi-party form of government which carries with them entirely different ideologies, I don't see where unanimous party support would prove the best candidate. They certainly can't represent ALL of the parties platforms.

Unfortunately in some cases, cross endorsements come with a trade off, which is not usually benefiting the taxpayers they represent. Just the parties involved. It is usually, again not in all cases, but 'usually', just political positioning with an alternative motive.IMHO

When did Sal get released? What he means is all parties should endorse the same candidate. Rit is finished in politics. He tried to run for City Council and got no support from the City GOP.

That is an unfortunate loss for county residents.  Rit is a good and honest man.

I am NOT a proponent of cross endorsing candidates. There is a huge difference in the platforms of the major parties. The minor parties do cross endorse since they are usually spin offs from the major ones.

If our goverbment makes a practice to cross endorse it will eventually lead to a one party governmental system. Threatening our form of government. IMHO

Dagostino front-runner
Marv Cermak

Rotterdam Police Lt. Dom Dagostino has become the front-runner to be the next Schenectady sheriff thanks to an unusual political twist.

Originally, Democratic leaders told Tom Constantine, a Republican, he could have their party's support for the job if he became a Democrat. He switched his enrollment.

In the interim, the GOP solicited Dagostino to run for the position to be vacated by the retirement of Democratic Sheriff Harry Buffardi. Because Dagostino is an enrolled Conservative, he's assured that party's endorsement.
Word has it the Democrats may drop Constantine in favor of joining the GOP and Conservative parties in cross-endorsing Dagostino.
If bypassed for sheriff, Democratic insiders say Constantine won't be left in the lurch. They said he will be appointed to a new homeland security job to be added to the Emergency Management Office.

When Buffardi retires, Gov. Paterson will consider appointment of a successor. Local GOP and Democrat leaders concede the Dagostino scenario is not a done deal. They agree Paterson could decide to open the process and accept applications for the position. Stay tuned.
