I just heard that the Old Country Buffet in Schenectady is closed for good. |
| Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil, The Light at the End of the Tunnel has been turned off. We apologize for the inconvenience. |

Old Country Buffet eatery closes in city SCHENECTADY — Old Country Buffet on Watt Street closed permanently Monday, according to acorporate spokesman. The family-oriented restaurant, located off the Crosstown, was popular for its all-you-can-eat offerings. Buffets Inc.’s second Capital Region restaurant in Latham will remain open, said Area Manager Paul Cotter. Cotter offered no comment on why the Watts Street store closed or what would happen to employees there. He spoke by phone from the Latham store, saying he was in town to deal with the closing. “Our clientele is very loyal. We hope they will come to the Latham store,” Cotter said. Buffets currently operates some 538 restaurants in 39 states, according to its Web site. It is one of the country’s largest restaurant chains. The corporation has its headquarters in Eagan, Minn. A call to the headquarters was not returned. The company employs approximately 33,000 people and serves approximately 180 million customers annually. .....dailygazette.com

I had a friend who went there often and he said that there was a guy who would spend half the day there eating each and every thing they made, and then after each bite of something, he would spit it back out on his plate after tasting it, and swallowing none or very little. That really helped my appetite and made me want to go there... NOT. |

Is your friend still among the living? What a loss to the culinary community. This is the type of thing Metrograft should be involved in. Protecting "vital" community resources and doing the peoples work. Funniest is the loyal customers. Worth a trip from any where? |
