Check the New York State Office of the State Comptrollers web site for unclaimed funds in your name and those of relatives and friends.  I found several funds that are owed to friends and alerted them to the web site.

Word to the Wise:  We encountered a situation wherein claiming debts from the Unclaimed Funds Database would have caused us to absorb the debt of the family member.  So if anyone thinks that may be the case for them, look VERY closely into the situation.

Happy treasure hunting!!

So sir is this here what you are going to be doing when you get elected and be giving away taxpayer money to people to hope they give the votes for you over here? Seems like a bribe of some sort in my opinion indeed sir.

Sal, Sal, Sal....at least Mr. Salamone is giving us some insite. He's a Rotterdam resident (I believe), on a Rotterdam message board, giving some sound, personal experienced advice.

Sal, are you suggesting that ALL politicians do this for votes or are you singling out Mr. Salamone? And Sal, you are clearly an informed rep just stiring the pot through the back door.

Mister Bumble I have told you that I am a lifelong rotterdam man and registered conservative and vote mostly for reps. Why do accuse me of otherwise over here? That is pretty rude. I want to know the motives that this Mr Salamone has and why he is running for office when he has no chance to win at this junction. Then he tells us that getting money from the taxpayers is treasure hunting. What is that all about? I stir no pots I just want to get to the bottom of things and educate myself better. I ask questions indeed and have some opinions too that some dont like well that is what it is as Bush would say. Some of you are not very tolerating of others idea and that here.

What's rude is you twisting my advice on the unclaimed funds database as a constituent bribe...?????

I've already explained my motives, on the public message board and in response to the private message you sent me.  I'm not sure what exactly you are looking for.  You can ask any registered Working Families voter, as I've attempted to reach them via phone, mailers and walking door to door.  I am doing all that I can to ensure that as many people as possible understanding why I'm running...to give a voice to a TRUE party member...I suppose my situation is not unlike that of the Conservatives.

Stop causing trouble where there is none. Plain and simple.

Furthermore, this is not money from taxpayers... This is money that once belonged to private persons that, by law, was required to be turned over to the state.  In my case, the money was a small insurance payout in the name of my grandfather.

Other things in this database include funds from banks, insurance companies, utility companies, investment companies, etc.  According to the OSC website, the money does not belong to the state, nor did it EVER belong to the taxpayer.  It is money formerly belonging to private citizens or companies that can be claimed at any time.

In the words of Bumble, STOP STIRRING THE POT!!!!

First - You may live in Rotterdam, and vote for reps, but I'd bet the farm that you are NOT a registered conservative.
Second - You seem to be the one accusing or slyly 'suggesting' with the word 'bribe' and that was more than rude.
Third - I still stand that you appear to be a rep, stirring the pot. And if that is the case, that is very disappointing to the party.
Forth - And I'm sure that you are not as 'illiterate' as you try to project.....In all due respect of course!

In any case, I would suggest that if you have questions or concerns for Mr. Salamone or any other elected official, in the future you may choose to email them or call them for the answers to your questions. It's an election year and I'm sure that you are more than aware that these candidate are readily available. Then perhaps you could post your FACTS here.
