Bridge jump threat quelled in Schenectady
Woman could face trespassing charges, police say

SCHENECTADY -- Police averted potential disaster this morning when they prevented a woman from leaping off the railroad overpass in the city's Stockade neighborhood.
     
The unidentified woman was on the bridge, which overlooks the Mohawk River, before being taken to Ellis Hospital for observation, said Officer Kevin Green, a city police spokesman.

The incident occurred at 11:48 a.m. near where the tracks cross over Front Street and run into neighboring Scotia.

She may face trespassing charges.
