Johnny Mertz was the best Police Commissioner the Town of Rotterdam ever had. It is wrong to do anything but praise him for his efforts. If he wasn't given a gold badge- then shame on the Town Board and Mr. Tommasone for not ensuring he was given one.
Perhaps that is because the firemen aren't corrupt like the police dept. Maybe someone could tell us the last time there was a smear involving the fire dept. I don't know, maybe there has been. I just don't remember. Does anyone else? Help us out here.

SCCP, it is unfortunate that your post should spew such venom at Mr. Littlefield. Mr. Littlefield does not deserve name calling. He has always been eloquent and respectful in his posts displaying nothing but class. In my assessment, Mr.Littlefield appears to be the most conservative than anyone else. He was the only one who single handedly forced an audit of the Metroplex 'for the taxpayers'. Now, being that we live in an almost saturated blue state, we may not get the true results.

Bob Hamilton asked me to work with them. We were united in the very necessary removal of Paul Brown, so I agreed to work with them. I only ran about 30 people in the Committee Primary that year (2006), as I had already agreed to give them a chance and work with them. I was assured that we would endorse conservative candidates and that everyone would be included in the open process promised. I was elected as Recording Secretary, but was also asked to agree to not force primaries against their endorsed candidates - which should have been unnecessary if Hamilton intended to keep his word to endorse conservative candidates. When they failed to endorse Angelo Santabarbara I kept my promise with regard to Primary petitions, but informed the Board that if someone else were to open that ballot, that I would support Angelo and Carolina. I even sent him the letter I sent out to conservatives alerting them to Lazzari and Santabarbara's Primary intentions and to avoid signing petitions for Jasenski/Godlewski. The only reason Republicans were endorsed anywhere else is as follows: 1.)The Republicans in Duanesburg were unopposed. 2.)The cops weren't happy with the Demokratz in Niskayuna and Glenville. In fact, Hamilton denied access to those interviews for other Committee members who weren't on the Board, yet Steve Janik (Glenville cop) and John Serotta ( Niskayuna cop), who were not on the Board were not only allowed in, but Steve ran the interviews almost exclusively. After interviewing those candidates in those town races, Janik made it clear that the Niskayuna and Glenville Kratz never did anything for them and never even returned their calls. The only exception was Demokrat Steve Swinton for Niskayuna Town Justice - Demokrat McNulty's nephew. The cops didn't want him either, but Hamilton endorsed him anyway. Gadfly, thank you for your respond. I'm glad someone finally did. I guess the only thing you did wrong, was after you helped Hamilton oust Brown, you tried to do it to Hamilton and crew. And they already knew the game plan. So I guess if they say you have sinned than Hamiltonand crew are guilty of the same with Paul Brown.
And also, it just goes to prove that sadly it is law enforcement that has been in control of the Conserv party. First the Sheriff's dept....now the police dept.
