Working middle class are ones being robbed

Re Feb. 6 Froma Harrop column, “Robbing from the poor to give to ‘havemores’ ”: I feel Froma Harrop has the wrong group that is being robbed from.
The “poor” are still receiving subsidized housing, help toward their utility bills, food stamps and health insurance in the form of Medicaid, not to mention free child care and thousands of dollars in tax credits that leave them with a big tax return, even though they had no withholding to speak of.
Froma is right to say that the rich are given many tax breaks, or loopholes, that leave them paying a very small percentage of their income. But she does not mention the other group: the working middle class. They don’t qualify for any of those coveted tax credits because their income is “too high,” no loopholes exist that they can take advantage of to avoid that higher tax bracket so they end up paying a higher percentage of their hardearned income than any other group of taxpayers.
I guess they can be considered the “haves” — they “have” a tax debt, they “have” a large withholding tax, they “have” the most to fear from rising prices as they don’t qualify for any assistance, they “have” the most to fear from downsizing and a recession, and they “have” the least to look forward to on April 15.

There will never be an affordable program run by the government because there will always be 10 chiefs for every one Indian doing the work.

'WE' work so they can eat, drink and be merry! Go figure!

GM is going to lay off their $28/hr employees only to re-hire at 1/2 the pay. We have no industrial, good paying job anymore. So our tax base is shrinking and the government is getting bigger. And so much for unions protecting jobs. This shoots that theory!

Our government has cut up the country,,,,never making us whole.....there is a cartel of divide and conquer...and keep them talking about crap that doesn't matter---ie: Clemens and steroids,,it doesn't get any more obviously wasteful than that....I would ask the senate where the $$ for Rotterdams little league is...oh, that's right they are too busy investigating what?--yup, sports and steroids---again, DUH!!!......if they are so concerned about sports way up there at the Washington level and the 'image'--who are they?

THIS IS WHY THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOT BE INVOLVED IN 'DONATING' $$ TO THEIR EAR MARKS.....it always gets twisted and stolen.....

we are the numbers they like to keep running around in the 'pastures' they build for us.....the sad part is we elect them(us) to build them

The government is involved in Clemens because of alleged illegal drug use which is a federal offense. However, I don't see the need for Clemens to sit before Congress. I should think that we have more important fish to fry than base ball. I can't believe this couldn't have been handled at a lesser level of government!

Of course...if it was such a big deal the cocaine and other drugs being brought into this country would have been choked off a long time ago....this is just the elected officials saying we are watching you and are still making $$ from illegal drug trade with the Columbians and the rest of them....we have monkeys on our backs.....they just wasted $$,resources and our time.....and some sheep looked up to see this, for what?

Go Giants? we all know there are no steroids or HGH used here...ha ha ha ha ha ha ha,.......
