Student accused of recording sex act
    UTICA — A high school student was charged with digitally recording a juvenile female student performing a sexual act on a male student in a high school bathroom during school hours.
    Sirdell Ruffin, 19, of Utica, was charged Monday with possession of a sexual performance by a child.
    Authorities said the incident occurred in November at Thomas R. Proctor High School.
    The three students were suspended for five days and then placed in an alternative education program following a superintendent’s hearing, said Utica Superintendent Marilyn Skermont. The two juveniles were not charged, police said.
    The three students knew each other and there was no force involved with either the recording or the sexual incident, police said.
