Making Sch’dy better must be joint effort

As we approach the end of 2007, and the end of my time on the Schenectady City Council, I want to thank the citizens and voters of our great city for their support and trust over my eight years of service.
Much has been written about Schenectady’s phenomenal resurgence — a stabilized fiscal situation, job creation, economic development, respectability; we’ve even been able to lower taxes the last two years. But none of it would have been possible without the sacrifice and patience of the city’s residents and business owners.
Yes, Schenectady is on its way back. But we’re not there yet. There are still serious public safety issues that must be addressed. Our aging infrastructure remains a deep — and costly — concern. We need to ensure that those homeowners and business owners who stuck with us through the worst of times are now included during the best of times. And, as a city, we can never turn our backs on our most vulnerable citizens — the elderly, the disabled, the homeless, the working poor and our youth. They, too, must be part of Schenectady’s resurgence.
I have every confidence that Mayor Stratton and his professional, dedicated administration, working with my city council colleagues — all outstanding public servants committed to doing the right thing for the right reason — will continue the positive change that makes us all proud to be Schenectadians. But they will need the support of all our citizens, community leaders and opinion makers. Only together can we make Schenectady the premier city in the Capital Region.

Gee, sorry that the site is on the fritz again, but I can't imagine this never getting a comment.  Maybe this should be read at the next City Council meeting and ask them when things are going to start turning around.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Good one Mr. March. Emphasis on "joint". This is typical of the disinformation the Krats throw around like free cheese. Especially after doing nothing for years. Nothing has improved. Every City business district is in free fall. Violent crime is at record levels. People and businesses continue to flee the City. County taxes are the highest in the area.

The City could come back but only with a major property tax decrease that would encourage new home ownership and new business formation, free from Metrograft i.e.{County taxpayer}handouts. Two party government and removing Krats from the City Council are the first baby steps.
