Also speaking of compulsions, education is compulsory to age 16 and everyone pays taxes whether they have children or not, and this continues your entire lifetime. It’s for the good of civilization.

Compulsory schooling has done great damage to this country.  It has created a nation of dependants, whether it is on government or corporations.  People sit on their couch on unemployment or welfare waiting for somebody to create them a job so they can earn a living.  That isn't healthy.  Go into Schenectady city neighborhoods and ask homeowners if their forced contribution to compulsory schooling is making a good citizen.  Public schooling as a whole is a disaster.

Clearly, we can all agree that Compulsory schooling was wasted on Cicero!

You've been schooled well Box...Educated?  Not so much.

I have to admit, I was lucky to have a few educators that encouraged independent thought and not just school teachers teaching memorization and compliance.

It is unconstitutional.............just like having to pay for medicare whether you want to or not. Just like being penalized if you don't take  medicare at 65. Thank God this younger generation is smarter then the past!!!

75,000 and 101,000 preventable deaths per year
Report
http://www.medicareforall.org/files/Nolte_measuring_health_of_nations.pdf

As indicated below by the Commonwealth Fund information, 75,000 is the conservative number of persons who die in the U.S. due to the United States failing to do an adequate job at prevention, at least as compared to the 18 other countries.
As reported by the Commonwealth Fund
http://www.commonwealthfund.or.....arlier-Analysis.aspx
“… authors estimated that approximately 75,000 to 101,00 preventable deaths could be averted in the U.S. “[E]ven the more conservative estimate of 75,000 deaths is almost twice the Institute of Medicine’s (lower) estimate of the number of deaths attributable to medical errors in the United States each year,” the authors say.”

As also reported by Reuters
http://www.reuters.com/article.....alth1100&sp=true

“ … I wouldn’t say it (the last-place ranking) is a condemnation, because I think health care in the U.S. is pretty good if you have access. But if you don’t, I think that’s the main problem, isn’t it?” (bolding added)
” … the researchers considered deaths before age 75 from numerous causes, including heart disease, stroke, certain cancers, diabetes, certain bacterial infections and complications of common surgical procedures.”

22,000 deaths per year due to no insurance
(based on year 2006 data)

Thanks Box...

Regardless, the Supreme Court Justices are reading the law based on its Constitutionality.  If it gets struck down and Americans really want Obamacare, the Constitution can still be amended.  We amended the Constitution to prohibit alcohol, we have to amend the Constitution to mandate insurance.

I can't believe Obama would dare call the Justices an "unelected body" and "activist" if his legislation is struck down...After all, wouldn't that make the Rowe v Wade a decision by "activist" Judges and not elected legislators?

Slavery was legal in this country for around a hundred years even though our Declaration of Independence
said "all men are created equal".  Women were deprived of the vote for even longer.

With some of the worst health care in the developed world... it's time we brought the USA up to the level
of countries like France, Japan, Australia, and Spain.

That depends:
Either the Supreme Court allows HCR,
or
HCR is postponed until a Obama appointment to the Supreme Court,
or
Enough dead bodies are piled up on the steps of the Supreme Court that they reverse their (probably 5-4) ruling on HCR.
or... an amendment.

It's the will of the people and more important... it's the right thing to do for America.

If Obamacare is the will of the people, that would make it an easy amendment process.  I think the reality is, this isn't the will of the people, and there are plenty of public opinion polls showing that.

Read any Public Opinion Poll on this issue...then sift through all the propaganda associated with this it...
The Party of NO (GOP) has been paid well to saturate the media with HCR lies and distortions.
Obama was elected on this issue more than any other... and will probably be reelected knowing his stance
on HCR.
Affordable Health Care is a reality... the only question is how long can the Republicans stall it's implementation.

(Have you noticed, that the Conservative opposition has no other option... no other plan... nothing to offer
to the Millions of Americans with out health care coverage?)

The Republican Health Care plan:
~ JUST GO F'N DIE... PREFERABLE QUIETLY AND SOMEWHERE AWAY FROM ME! ~

No its the will of a few, even if it was the majority the government has no power under the constitution to force people to buy a service/product. This country is not a pure democracy no matter how much you wish it was. Obamacare is a disaster waiting to happen and is destined to fail, most companies will rather pay the fine than to pay for healthcare to their employees, most citizens will boycott it once they realize their taxes were raised because they couldn't afford insurance. People are already struggling to make ends meet as it is, with gas already above $4.00 today and food prices increasing this will crush people financially.

I don't think it is a republican thing...I think most Americans would rather die freely than live in a country where the government forces you to buy a product just for being alive.

This has nothing to do with healthcare it has all to do with the Constitutionality of a federal mandate forcing people to buy a product or be fined.  An amendment is the simple solution.

Following a week of highly-publicized hearings before the U.S. Supreme Court on the constitutionality of President Obama's health care law, most voters continue to favor repeal of the law, and more than ever think it’s likely to be repealed.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 54% of Likely U.S. Voters at least somewhat favor repeal of the health care law, including 41% who Strongly Favor it.  Forty percent (40%) are at least somewhat opposed to repeal, with 25% who are Strongly Opposed.  Since the law’s passage by Congress in March 2010, most voters have favored repeal in virtually every survey, with support running as high as 62%. Opposition to repeal has ranged from 32% to 44%. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
