Nah. God wouldn't have men give birth, cause men wouldn't know what to do with the kid after it was born.

Religious blessing of abortion clinic improper

Re Jan. 23 article, “Religious leaders bless new Planned Parenthood site”: I shook my head in sadness when I read that a few local ministers and a rabbi blessed the new Planned Parenthood site on Jan. 22.
While I revere their religious traditions and right to their opinions, don’t they realize that the willful taking of unborn human life will continue to take place in these premises? Even if they believe a women’s right to choose is more important than the right of life, the fact that human life is taken there should be met with repentance and sorrow — not blessing.
What superficial thinking. What twisted logic. Shame on them.

Who decides what qualifies as ‘holy’?

Re the Feb. 3 Viewpoint, “Unholy ceremony — Blessing of new Planned Parenthood is perversion of prayer,” by Daniel Weaver: Shame on Mr. Weaver for his religious intolerance as to recipients of blessing and prayer.
In his condemnation of Planned Parenthood and assertion of “unholy” status, Mr. Weaver wears the cloak of intolerance thrown by the religious right. Is he also against sex education, use of contraceptive measures, family planning (and any consequent reduction in the need for abortion), etc. — indeed any option that might enable women, not men, to decide their own reproductive fate?
In a nation where half of all births are out-of-wedlock, and the plight of abused, abandoned and missing children are daily media fare, Mr. Weaver declares that only his religion may properly sanctify (i.e., render “holy”) matters of faith, morality and parental responsibility — certainly not a concept of tolerance embodied in a constitutional freedom of religion, but rather one of hypocrisy.
Just to be born, but not to be nurtured, is a profound immorality. Only when advocates of right-to-life are able to care for all unwanted children, including those abandoned in the neonatal wards of this country, may we have a fair debate about one’s faith and morality, instead of ideology.
If the tables were turned, Mr. Weaver, would you prefer that women arbitrarily dictate your sexuality and reproductive choice? May God bless and keep Planned Parenthood.

Sorry there Ms. Carol Putnam, but OBVIOUSLY, the way of planned parenthood has NOT remedied these situations. And OBVIOUSLY planned parenthood has not instilled the 'matters of faith, moratlity and parental responsibility' on the female population. NOTHING HAS CHANGED SINCE THE INCEPTION OF THIS WONDERFUL ORGANIZATION!!

If Ms. Carol Putnam is so overwhelmingly concerned about the rights of women, why is she not drawing attention to women being exploited at the hands of Hugh Heffner and Larry Flint? And what about the porn industry? But NO, she apparently is only concerned about on little bodily organ in the female body that happens to reproduce.

Well, some women themselves have stated that they are MORE than a uterus!  So Ms. Carol Putnum, get over your 'planned parenthood self' and take a real close look at how planned parenthood has helped society and women in particular...THEY HAVEN'T!!

Sometimes, abortion is the best of several undesirable options

Planned Parenthood has prevented many more abortions than they’ve performed, through their counseling, prenatal care and birth control. But, yes, when all else fails, they do provide the option of abortion.
In a perfect world, all children born would be taken care of. But, alas, this is not the case. I’m not pro-choice because I’m against life, I’m pro-choice because when the option of life is on the line, the choice needs to be made for life — not just existing in life, which is what happens when children are born to those unable to give them a life, life being defined as more than existing. We have all seen conditions where we say, “that is no way to live,” and correctly, we are appalled at these situations.
Until society can guarantee complete protection for every child, society has no right to take choice away from women. If you’re against abortion, don’t have one.

And if you can't take care of a child before, during and after birth, than TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND CHOOSE not to get pregnant.

Yes there are times when we have said "that is no way to live", but by who's standards? Mine, yours, the schools, the governments? Have we all taken the role of God upon ourselves to say who should be blessed with life and who shouldn't? Even our very governmental foundation states that everyone has the right to "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness."

Are we truly broken hearted when we see that little 2 year old starving while his/her parent is spending their welfare money to feed their crack addiction? Or do we look at this life style as a generational cancerous disease that can be stopped in the womb before it spreads?

Think about it!
