Almost got slammed in my drivers side door today pulling into my driveway.
Seems an elderly person (I'll keep it clean) decided that he didn't have to worry about the fact that he was A) in a school zone or B) in a no-passing zone during the hours that the school speed zone is in force. Thinking about it afterwards, I should have got the gentleman's name and reported him.
Said it was my fault for not signaling before I pulled into my own driveway. That would explain him speeding in the oncoming lane of traffic, wouldn't it?

I find that people are more aggressive when driving than they use to be. And it doesn't matter how old they are. I've been behind stopped school buses with their lights flashing and cars still pass them.

Police seeking man who allegedly stole car with child in the back seat
ROTTERDAM — Police are looking for a man who stole a car from a Mobil gas station parking lot with a 7-year-old girl sleeping in the back seat. The car was later found abandoned with the child unharmed. Rotterdam police say a man stole a tan 2000 Nissan Altima four-door sedan at about 7:22 p.m. from a gas station on Altamont Avenue. The car had been left unlocked and running with the child in the rear seat. After alerting nearby authorities to be on the lookout for the vehicle, police found the car a short time later on Wavell Road. The child was still in the back seat and not injured. The suspect is described as a white male about 6 feet tall wearing a black jacket, gray hooded sweatshirt and light colored pants. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Rotterdam Police Department at 355-7331.
ROTTERDAM Mother allegedly placed child in danger Daughter was inside stolen car BY STEVEN COOK Gazette Reporter
The woman whose car and child were taken from a Rotterdam gas station parking lot Sunday was charged with endangering her daughter, as well as marijuana possession, police said Monday. Meanwhile, police continued searching for the man who stole her car with her sleeping 7-yearold daughter inside, then ditched it a short distance away. The child was unharmed. But, police said, the mother, 24-year-old Jennifer Gifford of Crane Street, endangered her child by leaving her in the running, unlocked car in the first place. She was charged with one count each of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Gifford was at the Mobil station on Altamont Avenue Sunday evening, just before 7:30, when her car was stolen. She went inside the store, left the car running and her daughter inside. That’s when police say a man got inside the car and drove off with it and the child. The man soon ditched the car, however, on nearby Wavell Road, leaving the girl unharmed. Police theorize the girl slept through the entire incident. Police believe the man may have realized only after driving off that the child was in the vehicle. While police were processing the car for fingerprints, they discovered a small amount of marijuana inside, police department spokesman Lt. Michael Brown said. When they asked Gifford about it, she had an answer, as well as a question, Brown said. “She admitted it was hers and she asked one of our investigators if we could give it back to her,” Brown said. “Our answer was ‘no.’ ” Gifford was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. She was released to return to court Nov. 29. In 2003, the mother of another child told Scotia police a man had taken her car and child outside a gas station. That report turned out to be false. The mother, police said at the time, made up the story. In the latest case, Brown said police have surveillance video that backs up the woman’s story. The video shows a man getting in the car and driving off. Based off that video, police released a description of the suspect. They are looking for a white man, about 6 feet tall, wearing a black jacket and a gray hooded sweatshirt. He also had light-colored pants, work boots and possibly a New York Yankees baseball cap. Police were working Monday at getting a still image of the suspect from the video.
